Antoinette Dupre is in a desperate situation. To save her future and that of her sister, she must shed light on the vile machinations of the despicable Lord Appleby. She has in her possession a letter that is of great use in her quest, she will do anything to keep it safe until she is able to utilize it. Little does she know that her already tumultuous situation will be further agitated by the appearance of a highwayman bent on retrieving that letter.

Gabriel Langley is determined to do all that is in his power to acquire a letter he is certain will help him regain his rightful home, and also to help a dear friend. He is willing to go to extremes to achieve his goal, even go so far as to pose as a highwayman to steal the letter. He is however, unprepared for the immediate attraction he feels for Antoinette and for the mutual desire that sparks between them. From then on it is a sensual cat and mouse game as Gabriel continues to pursue Antoinette, until soon their desire for each other consumes them.

Antoinette and Gabriel were two very likable characters. I sympathized with both of them, for they wanted the same thing and yet were not able to trust each other to open up, no matter how much they wished to. Their interactions were fraught with tension that was heated and very palpable. I was completely riveted during every scene between them. Sara Bennett is one of the few authors I've read who is a master of sexual tension and searingly hot love scenes that are rife with emotion. She always delivers the perfect amount of romance, passion and great story telling. HER SECRET LOVER was a pleasure to read, and I think it will be a pleasure for anyone who picks it up.
